I (Lindsey) along with a few others here at Deliberate Women have been pondering some BIG things. God has been revealing so much to each of us over the past few weeks that at times at has been overwhelming--exhausting even. After one long, intense conversation with Mandy I woke up the next morning feeling like I hadn’t slept a wink. It's hard to describe, but my body and mind were both heavy and took several days to recover from this Holy-Spirit-driven interaction. There is so much good that will be coming out of that conversation and the many others that have been had amongst the Deliberate Women Team. I believe that over the next few weeks you (our readers) are going to be hearing messages that will soften your hearts toward the big things that God is doing and plans to do with this ministry. I feel very strongly that today’s message is one of those preparations He is making and, as I am writing, I'm praying that God will open and soften the hearts that He already has picked out to help us do His great and awe-inspiring work. Today my thoughts are on our “God Box”. To some extent I think we all have one. It's hard to grasp God in His entirety. We don’t have words to fully describe Him and in many ways I don’t think our boxes will fully disappear until we are Heaven-side. I do think we need to be persistent in our striving to eliminate the limitations we place on our omnipotent God. Let's look at some of the names of Jesus so that we might begin to grasp even a small portion of what our God is capable of. Holy One- Acts 3:14; Psalm 16:10 Judge- Acts 10:42; 2 Timothy 4:8 King of kings and Lord of lords – 1 Timothy 6:15; Revelation 19:16 Son of God- Luke- 1:35; John 1:49 Son of Man- John 5:27 Word- John 1:1; 1 John 5:7-8 Word of God- Revelation 19: 12-13 Word of Life- 1 John 1:1 Alpha and Omega- Revelation 1:8; Revelation 22:13 Emmanuel- Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 1:23 I Am- John 8:58; Exodus 3:14 Bread of Life- John 6:35; John 6:48 Good Shepherd, High Priest, Lamb of God, Mediator, Resurrection, Savior and the list could go on. Jesus was a teacher, a miracle worker, a defender of the hopeless, someone who understood the beauty that is the innocence of children. He had the power speak in tongues, healed the blind and the lame, resurrected the dead, was crucified, buried, risen and is alive still today. "Yet we limit who God is and what God can do and we place Him within the confines of our comfort zones. " ~Lindsey Hayes Yet we limit who God is and what God can do and we place Him within the confines of our own comfort zones. Maybe we are placing Him within the boundaries of what we had been taught, maybe we place Him within in the boundaries of what we feel we are capable of doing or dealing with, maybe He has been placed within the confines of our human and legalistic tendencies. No matter what the walls of our boxes are made of, what part of God can fit inside of that box? Better question still, what part of God is outside of that box waiting for us to open our hearts and minds to the opportunity of experiencing all of Him? God’s people seem to have always had a hard time with hardened hearts that limit experiences of and with Him, from the Old Testament to present day. How different might our lives look if we chose to step outside of the box and join our Omnipotent God on the outside? It won’t be easy. We will come across opposition. Those who step out of the box will be the “rebels”, but the path is narrow and the reward that God has in store for those who step out in faith is sweet.
